Last week I noticed a lot of visits to my blog via searches for "light crayons." Were people were looking for crayon lights? Wondering how to create art with light crayons? Maybe they were literally trying to "light crayons."
I finally had to found out. What are light crayons (also laser light crayons). I backtracked from Sitemeter to the Google results for "light crayons" and found a video that completely explains why so many people were doing that search.
They "light crayons" being sought out were probably the Philips Drag and Draw crayons. Somehow (!) the Drag and Draw lets you use a light emitting pen (the "light crayon" of google fame) to "draw" on the wall. It is really amazing. You have to check out the video to appreciate it. Here are a few safe places to see it: *engadget.com (3/22: Don't see the video anymore.) or *uberreview.com (3/22: I finally decided to put it on my blog here.)
From what I found, the Drag and Draw is not for sale yet. At least I
didn't find anything when I Googled "where to buy Drag and Draw."
Per
engadget.com, Philips displayed the Drag and Draw at a trade show, Philips Simplicity Event, around October 2006. OpenDen.com said products at this event will be on the market in 3 - 5 years. That's why most of the results I found were for blogs and not retailers.
So, the answer to "Where can I buy light crayons?" is," You can't - yet."
They're also being called "laser light crayons." Call in Duck Dodgers.
3/14 Update: Learned a bit more via mobilewhack. The bucket is a laser projection bucket. The laser follows the outline made by the pen.
