An annual part of my January phone message is adapted from the pledge of the Little Rascals' He Man Womun Haters Club during which they say, "JAN-U-ARY!" (Next time I run across it, I'll have to note the
whole text here.)
For some reason it cracks me up. Maybe it's the official sounding, false baritone voices they use. Maybe it's the exaggeration of the syllables. Whatever it is, it is stuck in my brain forever...and on my phone message each January.
This year I added a little U2 for background music, offering bonus points to callers who could I.D. the song.
Other than the January pronunciation and the music, it's a pretty standard "leave your name and number" note.
(I posted this on March 4th, though the date says January 31st. Oy vey.)

Hey, Kassy,
It's good to hear from you.
Yes, the site meter tells the number of visits to the blog. You can get a free one at Sitemeter.com. It also shows you the ip address of your visitors as wells as where they are from, when they visited and how they got there. (If it was via a search engine, it will show the key words used in the search.)
Do a search for "site counter" on the Blogger help page and they list some links, including one to their own.
As for knowing when other people post about you, you can do a Google Blog search and subscribe to the results if you have a newsreader. Icerocket.com may have a simliar service.
Another option is to do a regular Google search and sign up for e-mail alerts.
You could also try Technorati. Sign up for a Watchlist. You can either watch key words or specific sites.
Hope that helps. Take care.

Lexie,
I've attended your blog sessions at the ETBU conferences in 2006 & 7. You have a site meter on your blog that shows a number. That is the number of visits made to your blog, correct? If so, can you get one using Blogger, if not are there any that are free? Another question, is there a tool that can be added to a blog or website that lets you track someone reading your blog or coming to your site and let you know their web address? I'd also like to know if there is a tracking tool that automatically contacts you to let you know someone has written a blog and used your name?
Thanks for your time. Kassy Paris
